Designed by Scandinavian lure architect Allan Christiansen after 32 prototypes and countless hours on the water, the Westin Platypus 16 cm is built to fool large, wary pike where standard crankbaits fall short. At a pause in the retrieve, it hangs momentarily then rises slowly — a pause-and-rise action that pressured fish simply cannot ignore.

Deadly Pause-and-Rise Action

Most crankbaits either sink or float aggressively on the pause. The Platypus 16 cm low floater is tuned to hover and drift upward at minimal speed, mimicking a wounded baitfish losing its fight. This subtle buoyancy was the result of precise ballasting across dozens of prototypes, and it works equally well at a crawl in cold spring water as it does at a faster, more aggressive retrieve.

Built to Handle Big Fish

Full wire-through-body construction means the hardware runs as a single connected system from front to back — no hook pulling free under the strain of a hard-running pike. The ABS plastic body is fitted with Japanese-style carbon steel treble hooks that are ultra-sharp and strong out of the box. An Ultra Sonic rattle ball (USS — Ultrasonic Sound System) generates a tight, high-frequency rattle that carries through the water column and draws fish from a distance.
