The 6.6:1 version retrieves 70 cm per handle turn, compared with 85 cm for the 8.1:1 version. Choose 8.1:1 for more line recovery at the same winding pace, or 6.6:1 for less recovery per turn. Both weigh 192 g and have the same line capacity.
Left-hand versions are wound with the left hand, right-hand versions with the right. Both handle sides are offered in each gear ratio, so you can choose your preferred winding hand without changing retrieve speed.
It is a freshwater baitcasting reel for active predator lure fishing, including pike, perch and zander. The lightweight design and finely tuned components are intended for casting both small and large hardbaits and softbaits, making it suitable for varied lure fishing rather than one lure format.
All size 250 versions have an external centrifugal casting brake and a non-loss tension knob for spool adjustment. Line-ID lets you mark the line in use, so you can identify it when switching between setups.

The Savage Gear SG6 250 is a low-profile baitcasting reel for freshwater predator fishing with small and large hardbaits and softbaits. Its lightweight design and finely tuned components support varied lure casting, while the compact, ergonomic body with an aluminium frame and side plates provides leverage when playing fish. The family suits lure fishing for pike, perch and zander.
All four versions are size 250 and weigh 192 g. Choose a 6.6:1 gear ratio for 70 cm of line recovery per handle turn, or 8.1:1 for 85 cm. The 8.1:1 version picks up more line at the same winding pace, useful when you want faster recovery. The 6.6:1 version takes in less line per turn for a slower retrieve at that pace. Both ratios are available with a left-hand or right-hand handle, so choose the side you prefer to wind with.
Each version holds 180 m of 0.25 mm monofilament. Capacity and weight stay the same whichever ratio or handle side you select.
The size 250 uses an external centrifugal casting brake to adjust spool control during the cast. A non-loss tension knob allows precise tension adjustment without removing the knob. The soft-touch rubber handle knob provides a comfortable contact surface while winding.
The frame and side plates are made from EDP-painted aluminium. A separate stainless steel reel foot provides the rod attachment, while the brass worm shaft is part of the line-lay mechanism. The reel has 5+1 steel ball bearings and DuraGrease lubrication.
Line-ID lets you mark which line is on the reel, helpful when organising several setups. The drag clicker gives an audible indication as line is taken against the drag. These features are shared across all four versions.
