The FTM Steckpiloten (plug-in pilot floats) are compact, reusable bite indicators designed for trout fishing on stocked lakes and ponds, keeping resistance to an absolute minimum when a fish takes the bait.
The slim profile of the Steckpiloten means trout feel almost no tension after picking up a bait. This is especially valuable on pressured fisheries where fish are quick to drop the hook — the float signals the take without alerting the fish.
Inside each float body sits a removable plastic stem that attaches to your mainline or trout leader via silicon tubing. This makes the float fully slideable along the line, so you can fine-tune fishing depth or leader length in seconds without cutting and retying. The white colour ensures excellent visibility even at longer distances.
All variants share the same white colour and plug-in design. The available sizes differ in body diameter, which affects casting weight, visibility, and the resistance felt by the fish — choose according to your line strength, bait size, and casting distance.
Smaller diameter — ideal for close-range fishing with light leaders, mini baits (waxworms, small trout dough), and line-shy trout
Medium diameter — versatile all-round choice for standard trout dough or waxworm rigs at medium distance
Larger diameter — better casting range, good visibility in choppy water or at distance, suits heavier baits and water ball combinations
All sizes can be combined with a water bubble for extra casting weight when static fishing with trout dough or waxworms
