When fishing a Sbirolino (a weighted, water-filled casting body) rig, the Stabpilot is threaded onto the trout leader ahead of the Sbirolino and acts as the first visual signal the moment a trout takes the bait. Because the pilot float registers the lightest touch, you can strike before the fish feels any resistance.

Depth Control with Water Bubble (Wasserkugel) Rigs

Fitted to a Wasserkugel (water bubble float) setup, the Stabpilot doubles as a fine bite indicator and a depth-setting tool. Slide it along the line to position your bait — waxworms, maggots, or other trout baits — at exactly the right depth. The high-visibility colour scheme remains easy to spot even at greater distances and in changing weather or light conditions.
