It is intended for predator fishing, including perch, zander, pike and asp. The flat head promotes darting and rolling movement when jigged, while the long bucktail dressing creates lifelike movement, making jigging the directly supported presentation.
The 3.5 g versions have 2/0 hooks. Both 7 g and 10.5 g versions have 3/0 hooks, so moving between those two weights changes the weight without changing hook size. Choose the weight and hook size that fit your tackle and presentation.
Each retail pack contains two jigs in the selected variant, with the long bucktail dressing already part of the product. You are buying dressed jigs rather than separate bucktail fibers, so select the weight, hook size and stated colour together.
No. BN means Black Nickel and is supplied as the coating designation. The head's underlying metal is not specified, so the finish does not establish that the jig is lead-free or made from tungsten. Check material requirements before use where local rules restrict particular metals.
Use pliers or a hook remover when handling the sharp hooks, secure the points when not fishing and keep the jigs dry in a protective box. Inspect for damage or corrosion before use and discard damaged hooks, because the supplied finish does not replace careful inspection and storage.

The VMC MOONTAIL JIG 7158 is a bucktail-dressed jig for predator fishing, including perch, zander, pike and asp. Its oversized, flat aspirin-shaped head encourages darting and rolling movement when jigged. The long bucktail fibers retain a slim profile and their shape, creating lifelike movement during the retrieve.
Extra-large holographic 3D eyes give the jig a realistic visual detail alongside the moving bucktail dressing. The Technical Locking Curve (TLC) hook shape supports hook sets and helps hold hooked fish. The supplied finish is BN (Black Nickel), not a statement of the head's metal composition. Supplier ratings are 5 for corrosion resistance, 5 for sharpness and 2 for hook strength. No rating scale is specified.
The family offers 3.5 g with a 2/0 hook, plus 7 g and 10.5 g with a 3/0 hook. Choose 3.5 g for the lightest weight and smaller hook, 7 g for the middle weight, or 10.5 g for the heaviest option with the same hook size as 7 g. Match the selected weight and hook size to your tackle and intended presentation.
Supplier colour names across the family include White, Pink Fire UV, Blue Fire UV, Firetiger, Bull Head, Redtail Chub and Shad. Not every colour is available at every weight. Select the stated colour together with the weight and hook size of your chosen variant.
Each retail pack contains two jigs in the selected variant. Inspect the hooks and line connection before use, and stop using damaged or corroded hooks. Handle sharp points with pliers or a hook remover, secure them during transport and store the jigs dry in a protective box. Keep them away from unsupervised children and pets, and keep the casting area clear of people and animals. Use only for fishing in accordance with local regulations. The supplied general safety guidance mentions possible heavy metals but does not identify this jig's head material.
