The SG8 300 is optimized for medium to heavy lures, including softbaits, spinnerbaits, jerkbaits and crankbaits. Its robust construction handles sustained casting of 10-40+ gram lures depending on your rod pairing.
The 7.3:1 provides faster line retrieval (91cm per turn), ideal for active lure work and quick reactions. The 5.6:1 offers slower, more powerful retrieval (70cm per turn), better for sustained fights with larger fish and precision casting.
Choose based on your dominant hand preference. Right-hand models retrieve with your right hand while the left hand holds the rod, keeping the rod positioned naturally. Left-hand models reverse this, requiring your left hand on the reel crank.
The reels feature EDP painted aluminium frame and side plates for corrosion resistance, stainless steel reel seat, brass worm shaft, and DuraGrease lubricant. These materials and coatings protect against rust and maintain smooth operation in freshwater environments.
The SG8 300 features 7+1 steel ball bearings (8 total), including two high-precision Japanese BB. This bearing configuration provides smooth and consistent rotation even under load during intense fishing sessions.
The SG8 300's external centrifugal brake helps prevent backlashes, making it more forgiving than many baitcasters. However, baitcasting requires practice to master. The robust construction means it forgives some casting errors and works well as you develop your technique.
