The 5.6:1 model retrieves 70 cm of line per crank turn, offering more torque for slow presentations and fighting strong fish. The 7.3:1 model retrieves 91 cm per turn, making it better suited for fast lure techniques and quickly picking up slack line.
If you cast and hold the rod with your right hand, choose a left-hand retrieve model (LH) so you can reel without switching hands. If you prefer to hold the rod in your left hand, choose the right-hand retrieve model (RH). The SG8 300 is available in both configurations.
The reel is built for casting medium to heavy lures such as softbaits, spinnerbaits, jerkbaits and crankbaits. It is suitable for targeting predatory species including pike, zander, bass, perch and trout in freshwater.
The external centrifugal brake allows you to adjust spool braking force without opening the side plate. This helps control the spool speed during the cast and reduces the risk of backlash, especially when switching between lures of different weights.
The reel holds 320 m of 0.28 mm monofilament line.

The Savage Gear SG8 300 baitcasting reel combines a rigid one-piece aluminium frame with refined internals, giving you a reliable tool for casting medium to heavy lures at pike, zander, bass, perch and trout.
An EDP (Electro Deposition Painting) coated aluminium frame and side plates provide a durable, corrosion-resistant foundation. The one-piece construction eliminates flex under load, so you can set the hook with confidence.
Seven stainless-steel ball bearings plus one roller bearing — including two Japanese precision bearings — keep the spool turning effortlessly. Savage Gear's proprietary DuraGrease lubricant extends bearing life and maintains smooth operation across seasons.
An external centrifugal brake lets you fine-tune spool tension on the fly, reducing backlash when switching between softbaits, spinnerbaits, jerkbaits and crankbaits. A non-loss tension knob and drag clicker round out the control package.
Two gear-ratio options are available: a 5.6:1 power ratio with 70 cm retrieve per turn for slow, deliberate presentations, and a 7.3:1 speed ratio with 91 cm retrieve per turn for fast lure recovery and reaction strikes.
The reel weighs 245 g, offers up to 13 kg of max drag, and holds 320 m of 0.28 mm mono. A brass worm shaft ensures precise, level line lay, EVA handle knobs provide a secure grip, and the Line-ID system lets you note your spooled line directly on the reel.
