Ned Rig is a light jig fishing technique that uses small soft plastics on a jig head to mimic natural prey. The head shape allows the soft bait to stand upright on the bottom, creating an enticing presentation for bass, pike, perch, and zander. It works great in both clear and murky water conditions.
Hook size 1/0 is smaller and lighter, ideal for finesse fishing and smaller soft baits, particularly in clear water or when targeting smaller predators. Size 3/0 is larger and heavier, better for bigger soft baits and more aggressive presentations when targeting larger bass and pike.
Choose lighter weights (5g) for shallow water, light current, or finesse presentations. Use 7g for general all-around fishing and deeper areas. Select 10g for stronger currents, deeper water, or when you need to reach the bottom quickly. Always match the weight to your rod power and line strength for best control.
Ned rig jig heads work with any soft plastic bait that fits the hook size. Small swimbaits, finesse worms, creature baits, and grubs in natural colors (pearl, green pumpkin, black) are excellent choices. Match the bait size to the hook size for proper presentation and balance.
