They are freshwater casting rods for large hardbaits and softbaits, including pike fishing. Their powerful, responsive blanks support casting, lure control and hooksets with heavy lures. Match your lure weight to the rating of the individual version.
Start with lure weight: choose 2.38 m for 60–120 g, 2.46 m for either 110–220 g or 150–300 g, and 2.59 m for either 120–250 g or 200–600 g. Where ratings overlap, compare length and rod weight. The 2.38 m rod is the lightest at 217 g, while the 200–600 g version covers the heaviest lures and weighs 287 g.
They are built for baitcasting reels and use a Fuji reel seat. Choose a baitcasting setup rather than a fixed-spool spinning setup, then select the rod version to suit your lure weights.
All versions split into two sections and include a Competition Ready-to-fish rod bag. Allow 123 cm for the 2.38 m rod, 127 cm for either 2.46 m rod, and 130 cm for either 2.59 m rod when planning storage or transport.

The Savage Gear Alpha SG6 Monster casting rods are built for fishing large hardbaits and softbaits in freshwater, including pike fishing. Their balanced, powerful blanks provide the backbone to cast and work heavy lures and set the hook, while their responsive, forgiving construction helps you control the lure and detect light takes. Choose the version around your lure weight, then compare rod length and weight.
Japanese Torayca 30/40T carbon blanks with 4X Wrap combine the supplier's lightweight construction with the responsiveness needed to feel lure movement and bites. The premium cork handles provide the gripping surface for casting and retrieving. A Fuji reel seat holds the baitcasting reel, while SeaGuide CCS stainless steel guides with SiN rings guide the line along the blank.
All five versions have two sections. Their different lure ratings define the appropriate lure-weight range, rather than making one version a substitute for every other version.
Length | Lure rating | Rod power | Rod weight | Transport length |
|---|---|---|---|---|
2.38 m | 60–120 g | Heavy | 217 g | 123 cm |
2.46 m | 110–220 g | Extra Extra Heavy | 228 g | 127 cm |
2.46 m | 150–300 g | Extra Extra Extra Heavy | 258 g | 127 cm |
2.59 m | 120–250 g | Extra Extra Heavy | 257 g | 130 cm |
2.59 m | 200–600 g | Extra Extra Extra Heavy | 287 g | 130 cm |
The 2.38 m version is the shortest and lightest option, with the lowest lure rating. At 2.46 m, choose 110–220 g or 150–300 g according to your lure weights, with the higher-rated version weighing 30 g more. The 2.59 m versions offer more rod length. The 120–250 g version weighs 257 g, while the 200–600 g version extends the range to the heaviest lures in the family and weighs 287 g. Where ratings overlap, compare length and rod weight rather than choosing on maximum lure weight alone.
The two-section construction reduces transport length to 123, 127 or 130 cm, depending on the version. Each rod comes with a Competition Ready-to-fish rod bag for carrying it to the water.
