A screw-in spiral at the front of the rig threads cleanly into any large rubber lure, anchoring the system without damaging the bait. Bait pins (spikes) press neatly into the soft material to hold the treble hooks in a free-hanging position, keeping them perfectly clear of the bait body so they can swing and engage the moment a fish bites.
