60 RH and 61 LH hold 400 m at 0.36 mm, versus 300 m for 40 RH and 41 LH. They also offer 20 rather than 17 kg maximum drag, but weigh 620 rather than 520 g and retrieve 82 rather than 100 cm per turn. Choose the larger pair for more line capacity, or the smaller pair for lower weight and faster line recovery per turn.
41 LH and 61 LH have left-hand retrieve, while 40 RH and 60 RH have right-hand retrieve. Each specification set is available in both hands, so select the capacity you need and then the model that lets you wind with your preferred hand.
The W8 is a conventional reel for deep-water saltwater jigging and vertical boat fishing, with cod and halibut named as targets. Its lever drag and rigid aluminium frame support control under load, so this is the intended fishing situation to use when choosing between it and a freshwater casting or trolling-specific reel.
No waterproof rating is supplied. The stated 7+2BB system has oversized, shielded stainless steel bearings, and the gears are also stainless steel. These are supported construction features for its sea-fishing use, but they do not establish sealed bearings and drag or a waterproof reel body.

The Westin W8 Jigging Reel is a compact conventional reel for saltwater jigging and other vertical boat-fishing techniques targeting powerful predators such as cod and halibut. Its lever drag gives you direct control during the fight, while the cold-forged aluminium frame and side plates resist flex under load to keep the gears aligned.
Heat-treated, helical-cut stainless steel gears provide smooth, powerful winding and durability during demanding deep-water fishing. The 7+2BB system uses oversized, shielded stainless steel ball bearings for smooth rotation. The shielding is a bearing feature, not a stated waterproof rating for the reel.
The arced side plate makes the reel easier to palm securely. Westin's own ergonomic CNC aluminium handle design supports comfortable winding under heavy load, which matters when a long fight keeps pressure on both the reel and your hand.
The four models differ in winding hand and specification set. LH (left-hand retrieve) means winding with the left hand, while RH (right-hand retrieve) means winding with the right hand.
40 RH and 41 LH: 520 g, 5.8:1 gearing, 100 cm of line retrieved per turn and capacity of 300 m at 0.36 mm. Maximum drag is 17 kg, with a stated strike drag of 1–1.2 kg. Choose this pair for lower reel weight and more line retrieved per turn.
60 RH and 61 LH: 620 g, 5.3:1 gearing, 82 cm of line retrieved per turn and capacity of 400 m at 0.36 mm. Maximum drag is 20 kg. Choose this pair when the extra 100 m of capacity and higher maximum drag matter more than the additional 100 g of weight. The lower retrieve per turn means more handle turns to recover the same length of line.
Both specification sets offer left- and right-hand versions, so choose the winding hand independently of capacity. All four are described for cod and halibut. The supplier also lists saithe for 40 RH, herring for 41 LH and flatfish for 61 LH.
