The W8 combines high waterproofing (20,000mm) with excellent breathability (10,000mvp), keeping you dry without trapping sweat. The packable hood and adjustable fit work with layering, and the strategic pocket placement lets you access tackle without removing the jacket.
The W8 is cut for layering, so if you plan to wear base layers or a fleece underneath, size up by one. For most anglers fishing with light clothing, choose your regular size. Westin provides a detailed size guide on their website to measure chest and sleeve length.
The W8 should be hand-washed with cold water and mild detergent to preserve the Dermizax membrane and DWR coating. Air dry flat or hang dry. Machine washing and high temperatures can degrade the technical fabrics and waterproof treatment.
DWR (Durable Water Repellent) is a coating that makes water bead up and roll off the outer fabric surface, working together with the waterproof membrane underneath. This keeps rain from soaking the outer layer, reduces weight, and extends the life of the jacket by preventing water saturation.
Four zippered pockets with YKK water-repellent zips are positioned for easy access while wearing the jacket. Two chest pockets and two waist pockets let you organize tackle, phone, and wallet without removing the jacket during active fishing.
