It is designed for dropshot fishing and other finesse softbait techniques, especially when you need clear bite detection, close rig control, and a light spinning setup for perch.
Choose 225cm for boat fishing, tight urban spots, and compact handling. Choose 240cm if you want more casting reach and line control when fishing from the bank.
Westin recommends a spinning reel in size 1500 to 2500. That keeps the outfit balanced for light dropshot and finesse presentations.

The Westin W8 Dropshot 2nd range is built for dropshot fishing and softbait work where bite transfer and rig control matter most. These rods combine a light Torayca carbon blank with premium Fuji components, giving perch anglers a crisp tool for boat, street, and bank fishing.
The blank uses Toray Torayca T1100GC and M40JB carbon to keep the rod light and communicative. That helps you stay in contact with small softbaits, dropshot leads, and careful takes when fishing slowly or close to the bottom.
Fuji SiC guides and the Fuji T2C carbon reel seat keep the setup clean and balanced. Westin also adds a Seaguide Arc Hook 2.5 keeper, a screw-down carbon hood, and a protective neoprene rod bag for transport and storage.
Both variants share the same ML casting range of 4-21g and a two-piece construction, but they cover different fishing situations. The shorter 225cm rod suits boat fishing and urban spots, while the 240cm version gives a little more casting reach and line control from the bank.
Westin recommends pairing the series with a 1500 to 2500 size spinning reel. That pairing keeps the outfit responsive and comfortable during long sessions focused on perch and finesse presentations.
