ST5 is the most flexible rating on Westin's ST1 to ST5 suppleness scale. Choose this line when easy handling and knot tying matter more than the stiffness of an ST1 material. Its low memory compared with other fluorocarbon leaders makes line management easier. Westin's production process is designed to retain exceptional knot and tensile strength at smaller diameters.
The fast-sinking material takes the leader below the surface quickly. Its abrasion resistance helps where the leader rubs against rough surfaces, while the clear finish keeps the presentation discreet. The 0.52 mm, 0.62 mm and three thickest versions are also described as virtually invisible underwater.
Smaller diameters offer a finer leader but lower stated breaking strain. Moving up the range increases both diameter and strength, so match these together rather than choosing by spool length alone. The 1.05 mm and 1.2 mm versions are explicitly offered for pike fishing.
