All have a 5.2:1 gear ratio. The 2000 and 3000 FD retrieve 68 and 74 cm per turn with 7 kg maximum drag. The 4000 and 5000 FD retrieve 79 and 85 cm with 8 kg maximum drag. Choose the greater pickup if you want to recover more line with each turn, or the 8 kg models if maximum drag is the deciding specification.
Yes. The ceramic line roller is described as reducing friction and twist, particularly with braided line. For spool filling, the confirmed capacities are 155 m at 0.148 mm for the 2000 FD and 200 m at 0.205 mm for the 4000 FD. A reliable capacity is not established for the other two sizes, so do not use a sibling's capacity as their specification.
Yes. Westin describes the whole family as suitable for all water, with an IPX5 rating and a stainless steel main shaft. This supports freshwater and coastal use, but does not establish suitability for submersion. Sea trout, asp and sea bass are explicitly named for the 3000, 4000 and 5000 FD, while the 2000 FD lists perch, trout, pike and zander.

The Westin W3 is a spinning reel for predator lure fishing in fresh and salt water. Its aluminium body and cover maintain gear alignment under load, while the carbon drag washers provide smooth, controlled resistance during a fish's run. The family covers sizes 2000 to 5000 with front drag (FD).
The CNC-machined brass gear and stainless steel main shaft support power transmission and durability. A carbon fibre rotor complements the aluminium construction. The positioning of the pinion gear, drive gear and handle knob provides balance for smooth retrieves. Stainless steel bearings support smooth running, and the instant anti-reverse one-way clutch prevents back-play at the hookset. The one-piece CNC aluminium handle has a comfortable TPR grip for repeated retrieving.
The ceramic line roller reduces friction and line twist, particularly with braided line. The lightweight, ported aluminium spool is designed for casting and has a double-anodised finish. All four sizes have an IPX5 rating and are supplied as suitable for fresh and salt water. IPX5 should not be read as a claim that the reel can be submerged.
All four models have a 5.2:1 gear ratio. Their line pickup and maximum drag differ, so compare these figures rather than size alone.
| Model | Line pickup per turn | Maximum drag | Net weight | Line capacity | | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | | 2000 FD | 68 cm | 7 kg | 250 g | 155 m at 0.148 mm | | 3000 FD | 74 cm | 7 kg | 26 g | Not confirmed | | 4000 FD | 79 cm | 8 kg | 310 g | 200 m at 0.205 mm | | 5000 FD | 85 cm | 8 kg | 315 g | Not supplied |
The 2000 FD has the lowest line pickup and is described for perch, freshwater trout, pike and zander. The 3000 FD retrieves 6 cm more line per turn with the same maximum drag. The 4000 FD increases maximum drag to 8 kg and offers the stated capacity for a thicker line. The 5000 FD has the highest line pickup with the same maximum drag as the 4000 FD, at 5 g more weight. Choose it when the greater pickup per turn matters more than that small weight difference. The 3000, 4000 and 5000 FD are also described for sea trout, asp and sea bass at rivers, lakes and the coast.
The 3000 FD net weight above follows Westin's supplied 0.026 kg record, not the conflicting fallback weight. Its supplied line-capacity diameter has an ambiguous unit, so no corrected capacity is claimed. Bearing totals are inconsistent within the manufacturer's evidence, so the 7+1BB model tokens are retained as identifiers rather than used as a confirmed bearing specification.
