The Westin W3 Powercast Travel 3rd is a four-section spinning rod for casting large lures for pike and zander in freshwater. Its strong, lightweight Torayca® High Performance Carbon blank combines a fast, responsive action with the backbone for firm hooksets and control during the fight. Sensitivity helps you follow the lure throughout the retrieve.
Both versions are 236 cm (7'9") long, but their casting ranges and weights differ. The XH version is rated for 20–80 g and weighs 188 g, making it the choice for the lighter end of this family's lure range. The 3XH version is rated for 60–150 g and weighs 218 g, accommodating heavier lures at the cost of 30 g more rod weight. Their casting ranges overlap at 60–80 g, so choose according to the lure weights you intend to use beyond that overlap. The XH is also described for saltwater predator fishing and use from the bank or a boat.
Large softbaits, spinnerbaits and glidebaits are the stated lure applications. The fast action provides responsive lure control, while the blank retains the strength needed to set hooks on powerful takes.
