Pike in pressured, clear, or heavily fished waters often become sound-sensitive. The absence of internal rattles and any mechanical noise allows the Swim Glidebait Silent to approach wary fish without triggering their alarm response, making it ideal for situations where noise would spook strikes.
Use the 55g Suspending version for shallow to mid-depth hunting and to pause the lure at strike level without sinking past active fish. Choose the 62g Sinking version when targeting deeper pike or probing structure below the thermocline. Sinking also works well in strong current.
The Swim Glidebait Silent excels in clear or slightly stained freshwater. It is most effective in heavily fished lakes and rivers where pike have learned to fear noise, or in gin-clear reservoirs where every detail matters. Avoid using it in very turbid water where sound actually helps pike locate prey.
Sharp jerks followed by pauses trigger the characteristic S-curve glide. The lure's response to twitches is immediate and erratic. Vary the length and intensity of pauses; the Suspending version will hold depth, allowing pike to strike the motionless lure. Steady retrieves also work in active pike periods, especially near cover.
Real Rudd and Real Pike (natural baitfish patterns) are excellent in clear water and when pike are feeding on natural prey. Fire and Firetiger attract strikes through high contrast and visibility, working well in stained water or low-light conditions. Experiment with multiple colors to match local forage and light intensity.
