Westin LEADER 1X19: bite protection for lure fishing

These ready-made steel leaders are designed for spinning with artificial lures for pike, zander and perch. The flexible, strong 1x19 steel strand provides pike bite protection, including when a pike takes a lure intended for perch or zander. Each pack contains two leaders of the selected length and strength.

Lure connection and setup

The leaders are crimped and fitted with a strong snap. Its wide bend gives the lure room to move and develop its action. Tie your main line directly to the other end of the leader, then attach your lure to the snap.

Choose length and strength together

The four options are 20 cm at 7.7 kg, 30 cm at 11.8 kg, 50 cm at 20.8 kg and 50 cm at 27.7 kg. The 20 cm version is the shortest and lowest-rated option. Moving to 30 cm increases both the length of the steel section and its strength rating. The two 50 cm versions provide the longest steel section in this family, with a choice of strength.

Choose according to the leader length and strength your setup requires. At 50 cm, the 27.7 kg version offers the higher rating without changing leader length. These ratings describe the leader, not the weight of fish it can land.
