Choose by bait and intended fish. The available sizes increase from 5/0 to 6/0 to 8/0, with 6, 5 and 4 hooks per pack respectively. The larger options contain fewer hooks, but all share the same long-shank Octopus pattern, coating and point.
Yes. The supplier specifies heavy freshwater and saltwater fishing and names cod, grouper and catfish. The strong steel construction and Black Nickel coating suit these uses, but hooks still need dry storage and inspection for rust or damage before use.
It is designed as a heavy-duty live bait hook and is also listed for saltwater flies and sea-predator trolling. The long shank gives the bait room and improves presentation and hook setting. Check local regulations before using live bait.
Use pliers or a hook remover to handle the sharp points. Check for damage and a secure line connection before fishing, then store the hooks dry in a secure box or holder with unused points covered. Keep them away from unsupervised children and pets.

The VMC 7118 OCTOPUS SPECIMEN 7118BN is a heavy-duty single bait hook for freshwater and saltwater predator fishing. Its Octopus pattern and long shank give the bait room and improve bait presentation and hook setting. The supplier identifies cod and grouper as sea-fishing targets and also describes its use by European catfish anglers.
Designed for live bait, this pattern is also supplied for saltwater flies and trolling for sea predators. The long shank is the shared presentation feature across all sizes. Use live bait only where local regulations permit it.
The strong steel hook has a BN (Black Nickel) coating for corrosion resistance in saltwater. Its Premium Needle Sharp™ point provides the sharp tip for hook setting. Corrosion resistance does not replace care, check for rust, bent points or other damage before use and replace damaged hooks.
Size 5/0 comes in a pack of 6, size 6/0 in a pack of 5, and size 8/0 in a pack of 4. The 5/0 is the smallest option here, 6/0 is intermediate, and 8/0 is the largest. Choose the hook size to suit the bait and intended fish, rather than pack count alone. Larger sizes provide fewer hooks per pack, while the Octopus pattern, long shank, coating and point remain the same.
Handle the sharp hooks with pliers or a hook remover and check that the connection to the line is secure. Store them dry in a secure hook box or holder, with the points covered when not in use. Keep them out of reach of unsupervised children and pets. These hooks are intended only for fishing, follow local rules and the supplier's safety instructions.
