Shorten the 10 m leader from the thick 40lb, 0.35 mm end. This preserves the thin 18lb, 0.18 mm end for joining to the mainline, so you can adjust the length while retaining the smaller connecting knot.
The supplier recommends mono or braided mainline designed for distance carp fishing, with a diameter similar to or slightly greater than the leader's 0.18 mm thin end. Use that connection diameter when comparing mainlines, rather than the 0.35 mm thick end.
Each pack contains three 10 m leaders on one spool. Both listed versions have the same 40lb to 18lb taper, so length and strength do not distinguish them. You can use the additional leaders for other setups or keep them as replacements.

The thinner end forms the connection to the mainline, avoiding the bulky knot associated with a thick, constant-diameter leader.
