It is designed for casting medium and large predator lures in freshwater, including pike fishing with hardbaits and softbaits. The size 300 body weighs 248 g and offers 9 kg maximum drag, making this a choice for these lure sizes rather than a specifically ultralight setup.
Choose 5.6:1 for 70 cm of retrieve per turn or 7.3:1 for 91 cm. The latter picks up line faster at the same winding pace, while the former gives a slower retrieve. Each ratio comes with left-hand or right-hand winding, so you can select your usual handle side independently of speed.
All four versions hold 320 m of 0.28 mm monofilament. This capacity refers to that diameter, not every line thickness. The Line-ID feature lets you mark the fitted line, helping you distinguish setups without relying on memory.
An external centrifugal brake controls spool rotation during casting, with a non-loss tension knob for adjustment. The separate fish-playing drag has a maximum rating of 9 kg and a drag clicker for audible feedback when line is taken, distinguishing casting control from drag feedback.

The Savage Gear SG6 is a low-profile baitcasting reel for freshwater predator fishing, including pike, with medium and large hardbaits and softbaits. Its compact, ergonomic body and aluminium frame and side plates provide leverage when playing larger fish. All four size 300 versions weigh 248 g and offer a maximum drag of 9 kg.
Both ratios are available with a left-hand or right-hand retrieve. The 5.6:1 versions retrieve 70 cm of line per handle turn, allowing a slower retrieve at the same winding pace. The 7.3:1 versions retrieve 91 cm per turn, picking up line faster but requiring a slower winding pace to maintain the same lure speed. Choose the ratio for your preferred retrieve and the handle side you use to wind. Size, weight, capacity and maximum drag remain the same across all four versions.
An external centrifugal brake controls spool rotation during the cast. The non-loss tension knob stays attached during adjustment, reducing the risk of losing it. Mono capacity is 320 m of 0.28 mm line, a diameter-specific reference for selecting your line. Line-ID lets you mark which line is fitted, useful when organising several setups.
The aluminium frame and side plates are painted, and the reel has a separate stainless reel seat. A soft-touch rubber handle knob provides a comfortable contact point while winding. The mechanism includes 5+1 steel ball bearings, a brass worm shaft and DuraGrease lubrication. A drag clicker provides audible feedback when line is taken against the drag.
