Select based on your preferred rod length and the lure weights you plan to fish. The 2.21m models suit compact presentations and lighter swimbaits (35-100g). The 2.43m options offer versatility (50-110g or 70-150g), while the 2.59m rods provide maximum casting distance and handle the heaviest baits (35-100g or 70-150g).
The Alpha Sg2 Big Bait excels with large swimbaits, big rubber shads, jerkbaits, and soft plastics in the 35-150g range depending on the model. The robust construction also handles live baits and heavier presentations for pike and pike-perch.
These rods are best suited for experienced pike anglers who are comfortable with heavy lures and strong fish. Beginners should consider lighter rods first, then transition to the Alpha Sg2 series as their skills and strength develop.
After each use, rinse the rod with fresh water to remove salt or dirt, especially the guides and reel seat. Allow it to dry fully before storage. Periodically check guides for cracks and lubricate the reel seat. Store in the included cloth bag in a cool, dry location away from direct sunlight.
For shore fishing, the 2.43m and 2.59m lengths offer excellent casting distance. For boat fishing in confined spaces or when precise short-range presentation matters, the 2.21m or 2.43m models provide better handling. The 2.59m is ideal if you need maximum distance from the shore.
