The Salmo Slider comes in four sizes: 5 cm (8 g), 7 cm (17–21 g), 10 cm (36–46 g), and 12 cm (60–70 g). The weight varies depending on whether the model is floating or sinking.
Floating models rise during pauses, making them ideal for stop-and-go presentations over shallow structure. Sinking models are heavier for the same length and maintain a deeper running line, which is better for reaching fish holding in deeper water.
The Slider is versatile enough for pike, zander, perch, trout, and asp. Smaller sizes (5–7 cm) work well for perch, trout, and asp, while the larger 10–12 cm models are primarily aimed at pike and zander.
The Slider works well with both a steady retrieve and a jerking technique. For best results, use a series of short, sharp rod twitches followed by brief pauses. This creates the signature side-to-side darting action with lateral flashes that trigger strikes.
In clear water, natural patterns like Supernatural Mirror Carp, Supernatural Golden Crucian, or Supernatural Tench are excellent choices. In murky water or low-light conditions, brighter colours like Bright Perch or Holo Red Head Striper offer more visibility. Silver Roach PP and Baltic Herring PP are good all-round options.
