The Rattlin' Hornet comes in four sizes: 3.5 cm (3.1 g) for perch and trout in shallow water, 4.5 cm (6 g) as a versatile mid-range option for perch, zander, and trout, 5.5 cm (10.5 g) for reaching deeper zones and larger predators, and 6.5 cm (20 g) for pike, zander, and catfish in deep water.
The Rattlin' Hornet works well with two main techniques: casting with an irregular retrieve and frequent pauses (the stop-and-go triggers extra bites), and trolling at variable speeds with or without additional weight. Its strong wobbling action is easily felt through the rod tip, giving you full feedback.
The running depth depends on the size: 3.5 cm reaches 1–1.8 m, 4.5 cm reaches 1.8–3.4 m, 5.5 cm reaches 2–4 m, and 6.5 cm reaches 2.5–5 m. This range lets you cover water columns from just below the surface down to 5 metres.
The Rattlin' Hornet adds three key features over the original Hornet: a built-in rattle chamber for acoustic attraction, the SICS long cast system for greater casting distance, and Mustad KVD Triple Grip hooks for improved hookup rates. Each lure is individually hand-tuned and tank-tested.
Natural patterns like Natural Perch, Holographic Real Dace, and Clear Ayu work best in clear water and cautious fish. Bright attractor patterns like Hot Perch, Green Tiger, and Golden Red Head are effective in murky water or for triggering aggressive strikes. Ghost patterns offer a subtle translucent profile for pressured fish.

The Salmo Rattlin' Hornet is an upgraded version of the legendary Hornet, developed in cooperation with top American anglers. This floating crankbait combines a proven body shape with built-in rattles and the Salmo Infinity Cast System (SICS) for exceptional casting distance and immediate fish-catching action.
The integrated rattle chamber produces an attractive sound pattern that draws predatory fish from a distance, making the Rattlin' Hornet effective even in murky water conditions. The acoustic signature adds a dimension that silent lures simply cannot match.
The SICS internal weight transfer system delivers outstanding casting performance, allowing bank anglers to reach spots that were previously out of range. The system also ensures the lure reaches its target depth quickly after landing.
