The Hornet Sinking is available in five sizes: 2.5 cm (1.5 g), 3.5 cm (2.6 g), 4 cm (4 g), 5 cm (8 g) and 6 cm (14 g). Smaller sizes are ideal for trout and perch, while the larger sizes target pike and zander.
Running depth depends on the size: the 2.5 cm model reaches 0.5–1.0 m, the 3.5 cm model 1.0–2.6 m, the 4 cm model 2.0–2.5 m, and the 5 cm and 6 cm models reach 3.0–4.0 m.
The 2.5 cm and 3.5 cm models are fitted with one VMC Black Nickel treble hook. The 4 cm, 5 cm and 6 cm models have two treble hooks.
For murky or stained water, high-contrast colours such as Hot Perch, UV Purple or Olive Hot Spot tend to perform well because they remain visible to predators. In clear water, natural patterns like Real Dace, Holographic Grey Shiner or Trout often produce the best results.
The body is constructed from Salmo's proprietary High Density Space-Aged Foam (HDSF), which has a similar gravity to balsa wood but is far more resistant to predator teeth and does not absorb water, making it exceptionally durable.
Yes. The Hornet Sinking is well suited for both casting and trolling. When trolling, short rod-tip accelerations can trigger additional strikes. It is equally effective fished upstream or downstream in flowing water.

The Salmo Hornet Sinking is a compact, fast-sinking crankbait designed for spin fishing and trolling across a wide range of freshwater species including pike, zander, perch and trout.
Recognised by In-Fisherman Magazine as one of the greatest walleye crankbaits of all time, the Hornet has been part of the Salmo line-up since 1995. Its fast-twitch, rod-vibrating action is simply irresistible to predators in both flowing and still waters.
Each Hornet is built from Salmo's proprietary High Density Space-Aged Foam (HDSF), which provides a gravity similar to balsa wood while being far more resistant to predator teeth and water absorption. The super-strong, welded thru-wire construction ensures hooks never tear away, and the unbreakable polycarbonate lip delivers years of reliable diving performance.
The Sinking range is available in five sizes from 2.5 cm (1.5 g) through to 6 cm (14 g), covering running depths from 0.5 m right down to 4 m. The smallest 2.5 cm and 3.5 cm models carry a single VMC Black Nickel treble hook, while the 4 cm, 5 cm and 6 cm versions feature two treble hooks for improved hook-up rates on larger predators.
Every single Salmo Hornet is individually hand-crafted, painted, tank-tested and tuned in Poland. Available in natural patterns (True Image Technology, Holographic Feature Technology) and high-visibility colours (UV, fluorescent), there is a Hornet for every water condition — from crystal-clear streams to murky lakes.
Fish the Hornet upstream against the current with a slow retrieve, or downstream with a faster pace. Short pauses near suspected holding spots often trigger strikes. In still water, the Hornet excels both cast and retrieved or trolled, with short rod-tip accelerations providing an extra trigger.
