It is designed for squid and octopus. Its two stainless steel hook crowns each have 12 sharpened points, making it a specialist cephalopod lure rather than a conventional single- or treble-hook predator lure.
Count the lure down after casting before starting the retrieve. The supplier states a sink rate of 30 cm per second, allowing you to choose different presentation depths. The approximately 3 m trolling depth quoted for Deep Squid is not a fixed running-depth specification for Countdown® Squid.
SQCD09 is 9 cm/12 g, while SQCD11 is 11 cm/16 g. Choose between the smaller, lighter and larger, heavier lure, then select the finish. Both sizes offer natural, bright, Glow and UV options, plus FRHF and GFR2. YETA is available here only in SQCD09. Each variant supplies one lure in its selected colour.
Use pliers when attaching or removing the lure and gloves when changing it, as the two crowns have sharpened points. Check for damage before fishing and store the lure separately in a closed, dry tackle box to reduce tangling, injury and rust. Keep it out of reach of unsupervised children and pets.

The Rapala Countdown® Squid is a sinking balsa lure for casting to squid and octopus. Its stated sink rate of 30 cm per second lets you count it down to the desired depth before retrieving. Two stainless steel hook crowns, each with 12 sharpened points, provide the hooking arrangement for these cephalopods.
The Countdown® method allows presentations at different depths rather than limiting you to one fixed running depth. Count the sinking time after casting to select the depth you want to fish. The lure has a balsa body and is described as diving. Do not confuse it with the separate Deep Squid model, to which the supplier attributes the large diving lip and approximately 3 m trolling depth.
SQCD09 measures 9 cm and weighs 12 g. SQCD11 measures 11 cm and weighs 16 g. Choose SQCD09 for the smaller, lighter lure or SQCD11 for the larger, heavier presentation, checking the weight against your tackle's casting rating. Both use the same Countdown® approach and double hook-crown arrangement.
Natural and bright finishes are available. Colour choices include BSRD (Blue Sardine), BRH (Black Red Head), CG (Pearl Orange), FT (Firetiger), GBT (Glow Blue Tiger), GGT (Glow Green Tiger), GRT (Glow Red Tiger), GT (Glow Tiger), HP (Hot Pink), HT (Hot Tiger), OTU (Orange Tiger UV), PTU (Pink Tiger UV) and SFC (Silver Fluorescent Chartreuse). FRHF and GFR2 are also available in both sizes, while YETA is offered here only as SQCD09. Each variant is one lure in its selected colour, not a colour assortment.
The sharpened hook crowns require careful handling. Use pliers when attaching or removing the lure and protective gloves when changing it. Keep hooks away from people, clothing and pets, and keep the casting area clear. Check the body, hooks and line connection before use, and do not use a damaged lure or modify it. Store it separately in a closed, dry tackle box to reduce tangling, injury and rust. This is fishing tackle, not a toy. Keep it away from unsupervised children and pets because sharp points and small parts present injury and choking hazards. Use it only for fishing where local rules permit, and leave no tackle or packaging behind.
