Size #8 is slightly smaller and works well for medium to moderately heavy rigs with baits up to 20mm. Size #10 offers a larger gape and stronger wire gauge, ideal for heavy rigs and baits exceeding 20mm. Choose #8 for balanced presentations and #10 for maximum strength on demanding venues.
The PTFE coating is a thin, transparent layer that does not visibly alter the hook's appearance but dramatically improves penetration and reduces friction. It creates a slicker surface that allows the point to pierce fish mouths more easily compared to untreated or black-lacquered hooks.
The Preston XS02-B is specifically designed as a spade-end hook for conventional rigs (feeder, groundbait, bolt rig, hair rig). It is not suitable for fly-tying, drop-shot, or inline methods. For those techniques, choose hooks specifically designed with eyed or looped ends.
