The 2500 is intended for light spinning with small plugs, spoons and softbaits. It weighs 303 g and retrieves 84 cm per turn. The 3000 weighs 352 g with 89 cm retrieve and 5.5 kg maximum drag, while the 4000 adds capacity, 94 cm retrieve and 6.5 kg maximum drag at 366 g for medium spinning and light to medium coastal fishing.
The 5000 and 6000 both have a 5.6:1 ratio and 9.1 kg maximum drag. The 6000 adds capacity and 104 cm retrieve instead of 91 cm, but weighs 646 g rather than 595 g. It also supports natural-bait fishing. The 8000 is for heavy coastal and sea fishing, with 11.4 kg maximum drag and 112 cm retrieve at 866 g. Choose its greater capacity and drag when needed, accepting the higher weight.
Yes. The supplier lists saltwater use and a corrosion-resistant graphite body across the family, with fishing from river to coast as the intended setting. This supports coastal use, but does not establish a waterproof body. Choose the size according to the line capacity, weight and drag required for your fishing.
The handle can be positioned on the right or left on every size. None is pre-spooled, and no spare spool is supplied. You can therefore choose your preferred winding side and main line, but must spool the reel before use and arrange any additional spool separately.
Compare capacity at the same line diameter. For example, the 3000 holds 180 m of 0.28 mm monofilament and the 4000 holds 245 m of that diameter. The supplier gives separate braid capacities, so do not treat monofilament figures as braid figures. Capacity rings on the aluminum spool help you judge its fill level.

The PENN WRATH II is a family of black, front-drag spinning reels for fishing from rivers to the coast, with sizes from 2500 to 8000. The lightweight, corrosion-resistant graphite body supports use in freshwater and saltwater. A machined, anodized aluminum spool has line capacity rings that help you check the amount of line on the spool.
Two shielded stainless steel ball bearings and one Instant Anti-Reverse bearing provide smooth rotation and prevent the handle from turning backwards. The front drag controls line release during a fight, with maximum drag varying by size. The handle can be fitted on the right or left to suit your preferred winding hand. All versions are supplied without line and without a spare spool, so choose your main line before fishing and plan separately for spool changes.
The smaller versions suit lighter lure work, while the larger versions offer more capacity for thicker line and greater maximum drag at a higher weight. Compare retrieve per turn as well as gear ratio, since the 8000 retrieves the most line despite its lower ratio.

The 4000 adds capacity, retrieve and drag over the 3000 for only 14 g more weight. Moving from the 4000 to the 5000 adds 229 g and increases maximum drag, but reduces retrieve from 94 to 91 cm. The 6000 has the same ratio and maximum drag as the 5000, with more line capacity and a longer retrieve at 51 g more weight. The 8000 offers the greatest maximum drag and retrieve, but weighs 220 g more than the 6000.
Capacity depends on line diameter. These are the supplied monofilament capacities, expressed as length in metres / diameter in millimetres. Compare the diameter you intend to use rather than reel size alone.
