The PENN Warfare Level Wind is a family of conventional saltwater reels with automatic line lay and HT-100 carbon fiber drag washers. The drag delivers smooth line release under heavy loads, while Line Capacity Rings on the spool help you judge how much line remains during a fight. Sizes 15, 20 and 30 offer different capacities, weights and gearing, with left- and right-hand options and selected line-counter models.
The lightweight graphite frame and sideplates are reinforced with aluminum frame rings to improve rigidity and reduce frame flex under load. A forged and machined aluminum spool carries the Line Capacity Rings. Machined brass main and pinion gears transmit the handle's rotation, and an Instant Anti-Reverse bearing prevents backward handle movement. Every model has three bearings and a star drag with a maximum drag of 6.8 kg. The 15 models, WAR20LWLC and the 30 models also have a large handle knob for a secure grip while retrieving and fighting fish.
Size 15 has a 5.1:1 gear ratio and retrieves 64 cm per handle turn. The standard WAR15LW weighs 505 g, while the two line-counter versions weigh 524 g. Size 20 retains the same ratio and retrieve but increases line capacity. WAR20LW and WAR20LWLH weigh 527 g, and WAR20LWLC weighs 547 g. Size 30 offers the greatest capacity in this family with a slower 3.9:1 ratio, yet retrieves 69 cm per turn. WAR30LW and WAR30LWLH weigh 641 g, while WAR30LWLCLH weighs 655 g. Choose according to your line diameter and required line reserve, bearing in mind the extra weight of the larger sizes and line-counter versions.
