The 100-225g Medium and 100-250g Medium Heavy versions are all-round surf rods. Choose the 100-300g Heavy versions when heavier rigs, power and distance are the priority. Match your setup to the stated range.
The 423 models measure 4.20 m and pack to 147 cm, while the 453 models measure 4.50 m and pack to 158 cm. At matching casting weights, the 453 is 70–80 g heavier. Choose the 423 if shorter transport length matters more than extra rod length.

The PENN Tidal XR surfcasting rods combine a slim, responsive 30T/40T high-modulus carbon blank with Carbon X-Wrap reinforcement for long casts from the beach. X-Wrap adds strength and reduces twisting to improve casting accuracy and control.
Saltwater-resistant Fuji Alconite K-Type guides support distance casting and reduce line tangles around the guides. Each rod has eight guides including the tip, a Fast action and a DPS Type reel seat. The Japanese X-Shrink casting grip uses shrink tubing for a secure hold during the cast. The glow-in-the-dark Sensitip makes bites easier to see in low light.
The metallic green 453 100-225g has Medium power for all-round surfcasting. The metallic blue 423 100-250g and 453 100-250g have Medium Heavy power and offer a higher casting-weight ceiling for versatile beach fishing. The metallic red 423 100-300g and 453 100-300g have Heavy power, prioritising distance and strength for heavier rigs. The latter is also suited to strong currents or large baits. Choose by the casting-weight range you need rather than colour alone.
The 423 models are 4.20 m long and pack down to 147 cm. The 100-250g version weighs 630 g and the 100-300g version 650 g. The 453 models are 4.50 m long and pack down to 158 cm. They weigh 680 g at 100-225g, 700 g at 100-250g and 730 g at 100-300g. At the same casting-weight rating, the longer model adds 70–80 g and needs 11 cm more transport space. All five rods have three sections and come in a cloth bag.
