The 8000LC offers 108 cm retrieve, 13.6 kg maximum drag and 300 m of 0.28 mm mono rather than 300 m of 0.23 mm, but weighs 755 g. Both use a 4.7:1 ratio, so the choice is between lower weight and greater retrieve, drag and line capacity.
Both sizes include a deep aluminium spare spool alongside the shallow casting spool, but the reel is not pre-spooled. You can prepare a second line option on the spare spool. Its capacity is not specified, so do not assume the main spool's stated capacity applies to it.

The PENN Surfblaster® III Longcast is a saltwater spinning reel designed for surfcasting. Its shallow, conical aluminium spool is forged and machined, while extra-slow oscillation lays the line evenly to support long casts. Both sizes come in Grey/Gold and include a deep aluminium spare spool for carrying an alternative line setup.
Five sealed stainless steel ball bearings plus an instant anti-reverse bearing provide a smooth retrieve, including under pressure. The quick, smooth HT-100 front drag controls line release during the fight. A large T-knob gives a comfortable grip on the handle, which can be fitted for right- or left-hand retrieval.
Both versions have a 4.7:1 gear ratio. The 7000LC weighs 665 g, retrieves 95 cm per handle turn and has a maximum drag of 12 kg. Its monofilament capacity is 300 m of 0.23 mm line. Choose it when lower reel weight is the priority.
The 8000LC weighs 755 g, retrieves 108 cm per turn and has a maximum drag of 13.6 kg. It holds 300 m of 0.28 mm monofilament. It offers more line recovered per turn, a higher maximum drag and capacity for thicker mono over the same length, at the cost of 90 g extra weight.
Rated braid capacities also differ. Converted to metric and rounded, the 7000LC holds approximately 366 m at 6.8 kg, 256 m at 9.1 kg or 178 m at 13.6 kg. The 8000LC holds approximately 530 m, 375 m or 261 m at those respective ratings.
The reel is supplied without line. Load the shallow casting spool with your chosen main line, and use the included deep spare spool for a second line option. The supplier does not specify the deep spare spool's capacity. Sealed bearings are specified, but no waterproof rating for the complete reel is given.
