The 242 15–40 g has the lowest lure rating and Medium power for lighter saltwater spinning. For plugs and lighter softbaits with more rod length, the 2.7 m 272 20–50 g is the next option.
Choose the Heavy 242 50–100 g for medium to heavy lures or either Extra Heavy 75–150 g version for heavier presentations. The latter are offered in 2.4 m and 2.7 m lengths for a choice of reach and transport size.
All versions have two sections and come in a cloth bag. Allow 124–125 cm for a 242, 140 cm for a 272 or 155 cm for the 302 when choosing your transport setup.

The PENN Squadron III SW Spin sea fishing rods are designed for inshore and nearshore lure fishing. Slim, powerful high-modulus 24T carbon blanks combine low weight with fast action for direct lure control. The family covers fishing for seabass, pollock and coalfish, with heavier versions for larger species such as halibut.
Saltwater-resistant guides and components suit regular use at sea. LTS guides carry the line, while a DPS Type reel seat holds the reel. Ergonomically shaped, high-density EVA handles provide a secure, comfortable grip and are easy to clean. All versions have a red/black finish.
The 242 15–40 g is 2.4 m long, has Medium power and weighs 212 g. It suits lighter to medium saltwater spinning for seabass, mackerel and smaller pollock. The 272 20–50 g offers 2.7 m length, Medium Heavy power and a weight of 291 g, with sensitive control for plugs and lighter softbaits. The 302 20–60 g is the longest version at 3 m, with Medium Heavy power and a weight of 312 g for coastal or boat lure fishing.
For heavier lures, the 242 50–100 g combines 2.4 m length, Heavy power and 325 g weight for pollock and larger coalfish. Both 75–150 g versions have Extra Heavy power. The 242 is 2.4 m long and weighs 348 g, suited to heavy spinning for cod and coalfish in deeper water or stronger current. The 272 is 2.7 m long and weighs 275 g, with support for larger softbaits and heavy pirks in similar conditions. Choose the lure rating first, then balance rod length against transport space. The 2.4 m versions have seven guides including the tip, while the 2.7 m and 3 m versions have eight.
Every rod has two sections and is supplied in a cloth bag. Transport lengths are 125 cm for the 242 15–40 g, 124 cm for the other 242 versions, 140 cm for both 272 versions and 155 cm for the 302. Model codes 242, 272 and 302 identify the versions, while the specified fishing lengths are 2.4 m, 2.7 m and 3 m.
