The body and spool have IPX5 sealing, and the HT-100 drag washers sit in a fully sealed spool. This protects the gearbox and drag against the waves and spray described by the supplier. A submersion rating is not stated, so do not treat spray protection as approval for underwater use.
Start with the listed line capacity and fishing situation, then compare weight, drag and retrieve. The 2500 to 4500 weigh 311 to 361 g for lighter coastal spinning. The 5500 to 8500 increase drag and capacity for larger sea predators. The 9500 and 10500 exceed 1 kg and offer 20.1 and 22.7 kg maximum drag for heavy sea fishing. Check retrieve separately, as the 7500 retrieves less line per turn than the 6500.
Both line types are listed for the aluminium Superline Spool, with the same supplier capacity combinations for each. Capacity depends on size and diameter, from 160 m of 0.28 mm on the 2500 to 330 m of 0.61 mm on the 10500. Compare the full m/mm entries for your intended line, rather than treating reel size as a capacity measurement.
Yes, every listed size has a Right/Left handle position. Fit the handle on your preferred side, so you do not need a separate left- or right-hand version. The drag is a front drag and is adjusted at the spool.
No, the supplier specifies one boxed reel, Not Pre-Spooled and No Spare Spool for every size. Choose your own line before fishing and do not expect a second spool for switching line setups to be included.

The PENN Spinfisher VII is a saltwater spinning reel for fishing coastal and offshore predators. Its IPX5-sealed body and spool protect the gearbox and drag system against the waves and spray encountered from shore or a boat. Sizes 2500 to 10500 offer different combinations of weight, line capacity, retrieve and maximum drag, so choose around your fishing situation rather than reel size alone.
HT-100 carbon-fibre drag washers sit inside a fully sealed spool and provide the stopping power for saltwater fish. The front drag lets you adjust resistance at the spool. A Full Metal Body and sideplate keep the CNC Gear System aligned under heavy loads, while CNC Gear Technology uses a brass main gear. The sealed stainless-steel bearing system has 5+1 bearings, six in total. Instant Anti-Reverse prevents backward handle rotation.
The aluminium Superline Spool accommodates monofilament or braid. The supplier lists the same metric capacity combinations for both line types, shown below as metres/diameter in millimetres. The handle can be fitted on the right or left, allowing you to choose your winding hand. Each black-and-gold reel is supplied boxed, without pre-spooled line or a spare spool, so line must be selected separately. These are the Spinning Reel versions, not the separately named Live Liner or Long Cast versions mentioned in the wider supplier range.

The 2500 is the lightest option for light to medium shore or boat spinning, with supplier-listed uses including herring, sea bass, mackerel and smaller bonito. The 3500 adds line capacity and a longer retrieve at the same maximum drag, for sea trout, sea bass and smaller tuna in shallow water or the surf. The 4500 remains close in weight to the 3500 but raises maximum drag and retrieve, for sea trout, barracuda, smaller amberjack and larger sea bass from shore or a boat.
The 5500 provides more drag at a higher weight and is described for longer casts and harder fights from beaches or rocks, including bluefish, snook and bonito. The 6500 increases drag and retrieve again, with supplier-listed uses including giant trevally (GT), kingfish and medium-sized tuna in active spinning or light trolling. The supplier also lists cod, halibut and saithe for both sizes.
The 7500 increases maximum drag to 15.6 kg for large saltwater predators, but its 97 cm retrieve is shorter than the 6500's. The 8500 adds drag, retrieve and capacity for thicker line, with listed uses including larger tuna, amberjack and rays in strong currents or where long casts matter. Cod, halibut and saithe are also named for the 8500.
The 9500 is listed for heavy sea spinning in deeper or coastal water, including large tuna, sharks, cod, halibut and saithe. The 10500 is the largest listed size and offers more capacity at the same line diameters, higher maximum drag and a longer retrieve than the 9500, at an extra 42 g. Its stated uses include offshore fishing for tuna, giant trevally, smaller sharks, cod, halibut and saithe, with strong braid and a suitably strong rod. Across the range, extra capacity and drag come with more weight, and a larger reel does not always retrieve more line per turn.
