All LC models have a line counter, in sizes 15, 20 and 30 with either right- or left-hand retrieval. RIV15LW and RIV30LW have no counter. Choose LC if you want to monitor line payout and repeat a chosen line length when boat fishing.

The PENN Rival Level Wind range consists of conventional reels for saltwater fishing. HT-100 carbon fiber drag washers provide smooth drag under heavy loads, with a maximum drag of 6.8 kg across all eight models. The level-wind line guide distributes line during winding. Choose between sizes 15, 20 and 30, with or without a line counter and with the handle on the right or left, depending on the model.
The lightweight graphite frame and sideplates have aluminum frame rings that improve rigidity and limit frame flex under load. A marine-grade bronze alloy main gear, a machine-cut brass pinion and two shielded stainless steel ball bearings form the drive. Auto-engaging gears re-engage the drive for retrieval. The LW models in sizes 15 and 30 are right-hand reels without a line counter. LC (line counter) models are available in sizes 15, 20 and 30. Their counter shows line payout, which helps you repeat a chosen line length when boat fishing. The right-hand size 15 and 20 LC models are also described for pirking, while the left-hand size 15 LC model is described for predator fishing without a specific species being named.
