Choose the 6000LC for the lowest weight, 546 g, and 275 m of 0.3 mm mono. The 7000LC holds 550 m of 0.33 mm mono at 669 g, while the 8000LC holds 730 m at the same diameter and weighs 708 g. Retrieve is 87, 85 and 98 cm per turn respectively. More capacity and the highest retrieve favour the 8000LC, but all three have the same 8 kg maximum drag.
Yes. PENN describes the family as all-round longcast reels for carp, surf and feeder fishing, and specifies saltwater use for each size. Select the size by the line capacity and weight your setup needs. The shared 8 kg front drag does not increase with reel size.
Yes, the machined aluminium spool is braid-ready and mono capacities are also specified. Each reel comes without line and without a spare spool, so supply your own main line and do not plan on an included second spool for switching line types.
Yes, every size has a right/left handle position and a T-shaped knob for grip and comfort. The front drag uses HT-100 material and a Quick-set system for rapid adjustment, with a maximum of 8 kg. Choose your preferred winding side and set the front drag to suit the line in use.

The PENN RIVAL GOLD is an all-round longcast spinning reel for carp, surf and feeder fishing. Its long-cast design supports distance fishing, while a graphite body and machined aluminium spool combine strength with reduced weight. All three sizes are specified for saltwater use. The 8000LC is also described for freshwater use. The finish is Black Gold.
The sealed stainless steel 4+1 bearing system includes Instant Anti-Reverse for smooth operation under pressure and immediate resistance to backward handle movement. The front drag uses HT-100 material and provides up to 8 kg of drag on every size. Its strong, smooth action controls line release during the fight, and the Quick-set drag system allows rapid adjustment.
The durable handle has a T-shaped knob for a comfortable, secure grip when winding under load. The handle can be positioned on either side, so each size supports right- or left-hand winding.
All sizes share the same maximum drag, but differ in line capacity, weight, gearing and line recovered per handle turn. The mono capacities below are supplier ratings at the stated diameters.
| Model | Weight | Gear ratio | Retrieve per turn | Mono capacity | | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | | 6000LC | 546 g | 4.8:1 | 87 cm | 275 m / 0.3 mm | | 7000LC | 669 g | 4.3:1 | 85 cm | 550 m / 0.33 mm | | 8000LC | 708 g | 4.3:1 | 98 cm | 730 m / 0.33 mm |
Choose the 6000LC when lower weight matters more than maximum line capacity. The 7000LC offers more line reserve with a slightly shorter retrieve per turn. The 8000LC holds the most line and retrieves the most per turn, at the highest weight. The 7000LC and 8000LC capacities are directly comparable at 0.33 mm, while the 6000LC rating uses thinner 0.3 mm mono. Choose by the capacity needed for your carp, surf or feeder setup rather than assuming a larger size increases drag strength.
The aluminium spool is braid-ready, so the family supports braided main line as well as mono. Each reel is supplied without line and without a spare spool. Plan to spool it with your chosen line before fishing, and do not expect an included second spool for changing between line types.
