Eight PENN Dura-Guides, including the tip guide, use one-piece stainless steel construction without ceramic inserts, eliminating a fragile inner ceramic component. The full EVA grip with X-shrink tube covering provides a secure hold and is easy to clean. A sturdy graphite reel seat in DPS Type design holds the reel. Both rods have a Gloss Grey finish.
The 423 model measures 4.20 m, weighs 630 g and packs down to 150 cm. Choose it for the lighter rod and shorter transport length. The 453 model measures 4.50 m, weighs 700 g and packs down to 159 cm. It offers 30 cm more length for surfcasting, with 70 g more weight and 9 cm more transport length. The longer model is described for distance casting with heavy rigs, leads and large baits on exposed coasts. Both share the same 100–250 g rating, so the longer version does not increase the rated casting load.
