HS means High Speed. The 4000HS retrieves 109 instead of 94 cm, the 6000HS 120 instead of 104 cm, and the 8000HS 112 instead of 97 cm per handle turn. Each also holds more line at matching diameters. Choose HS when your presentation needs faster retrieves, noting that the 4000HS adds 19 g while the larger HS models retain the standard model's weight.
The 221 g 1000 is described for light tackle in shallow coastal and harbour water. The 275 g 2500 covers light to medium shore and boat spinning. The 8000 and 10000 are described for heavier marine predators, with 13.6 and 18.1 kg maximum drag respectively. Check the capacity at your actual line diameter, as the larger reels add substantial weight as well as capacity.
Yes. Every model has an aluminium Superline Spool, separate braid capacity ratings and a right/left handle position. Choose the side that suits you and compare the braid capacity rather than applying a monofilament rating to your braid. Line Capacity Rings help you check the fill level.
No. All models are supplied boxed without pre-spooled line or a spare spool. You need to choose and load line before use, and the package does not provide a second spool for an alternative line setup.
A submersion rating is not provided. Hydro Armor seals critical areas against water intrusion, and the stainless steel bearing system is sealed. These are supported protections for saltwater use, but they do not establish an immersion depth or duration for choosing a reel that will be submerged.

The PENN BATTLE IV is a saltwater spinning reel family spanning sizes 1000 to 10000. Hydro Armor seals critical areas against water intrusion, while the Full Metal Body and sideplate support the reel's gearing under the load of a fish. CNC Gear Technology provides the gear drive, and HT-100 carbon fibre washers provide the front drag.
The 5+1 sealed stainless steel bearing system supports rotation and protects the bearings from water exposure. Instant Anti-Reverse stops backward rotation when pressure comes onto the line. The handle can be fitted on either side, so you can choose right- or left-hand winding. All models have an aluminium Superline Spool for braided-line use and Line Capacity Rings to check the spool's fill level. The shared colour is Black/Gold/Smoke.
The 1000 is the smallest model at 221 g, intended for light tackle and fine braid around shallow coasts and harbours, including herring, sea trout and smaller mackerel. The 2000 weighs 266 g and has 4.5 kg maximum drag. The 2500 weighs 275 g and offers 5.4 kg maximum drag for light to medium spinning from shore or a boat, with coastal sea trout, sea bass, smaller bonito and pollack among its stated uses.
The 3000 and 4000 are predator-spinning options with 6.8 kg maximum drag. The 4000 holds more line than the 3000 at matching diameters. The 4000HS increases retrieve speed and capacity, but weighs 362 g rather than 343 g. The 5000 moves up to 11.3 kg maximum drag at 533 g. Both 6000 versions weigh 590 g and retain that drag rating, with greater capacity than the 5000. The standard 6000 is described for spinning and pirking for cod, barracuda and kingfish.
The 8000 versions offer 13.6 kg maximum drag at 785 g. The standard 8000 is intended for heavy saltwater spinning for amberjack, tuna, giant trevally, cod and halibut. The 8000HS is intended for faster retrieves, including pelagic predators and quick surface presentations. The 10000 is the largest and heaviest option at 1100 g, with 18.1 kg maximum drag and the greatest line capacity for offshore fishing, including large tuna, sharks, cod and halibut. Higher capacity comes with more weight, so compare your line diameter and required length as well as the size code.
High Speed (HS) models are available in 4000, 6000 and 8000. Compared with their standard counterparts, their higher gear ratios take in more line per handle turn, useful when a presentation requires speed. Their spools also hold more line at matching diameters.

Capacity pairs below give metres of line at the stated diameter in millimetres. Monofilament and braid have separate supplier ratings.
