Choose the 6000 for lower weight and faster line pickup: it weighs 618 g and retrieves 103 cm per turn, with 315 m capacity at 0.33 mm. Choose the 8000 for its larger stated reserve of 385 m at 0.35 mm, accepting 714 g weight and 92 cm pickup. These capacities use different line diameters, while both models offer 16 kg maximum drag.
Yes. It is positioned as an entry-level Big Pit surfcasting reel, with a corrosion-resistant graphite body, stainless steel bearings and a Hydro Block drag gasket. These features suit shore saltwater fishing, but the reel still needs regular cleaning after sea use and dry storage.
The super-slow Worm Shaft Transmission System reduces friction for smooth, powerful casts. Flite Drive stabilizes the gears and reduces resistance during retrieval. Both sizes provide these features, so the choice between them depends on weight, pickup and line capacity rather than a different drive system.
Both models have a machined aluminium spool. An extra-shallow graphite spool is also specified for the 6000, but not for the 8000. No separate capacity is supplied for that graphite spool, so do not assume the stated 315 m at 0.33 mm applies to it.

The WAVE X is a Big Pit fixed-spool sea fishing reel for entry-level surf anglers and shore-fishing allrounders. Its large line capacity supports fishing distant spots in the surf. The super-slow Worm Shaft Transmission System reduces friction for smooth, powerful casts, while Flite Drive™ gear stabilization reduces resistance when retrieving. Supplier examples of suitable saltwater species include flatfish, cod, red mullet, sea bream and sea bass.
Both sizes have a machined aluminium spool, a one-piece heavy-duty aluminium bail and an EFR-II Even-Flow line roller with DLC coating. The line roller guides the line during retrieval, while the round metal LCS line clip provides a clipping point. There are 3 + 1 stainless steel bearings. Quick Set infinite anti-reverse prevents the handle from turning backwards, and the metal handle has Ergo-Grip knobs for a secure hold.
The corrosion-resistant Slim Blade graphite body is suited to sea fishing. Fast Progressive Drag (FPD) provides rapid, progressive drag adjustment, with a maximum drag of 16 kg on both models. The Hydro Block gasket protects the drag system from water ingress to help it run smoothly and resist corrosion. This drag protection does not replace cleaning after saltwater use.
The 6000 has a 4.5:1 gear ratio, retrieves 103 cm per handle turn and weighs 618 g. Its stated line capacity is 315 m of 0.33 mm line. Choose it for the lower reel weight and greater retrieve per turn. An extra-shallow graphite spool is specified for this model alongside the machined aluminium spool.
The 8000 has a 3.8:1 gear ratio, retrieves 92 cm per turn and weighs 714 g. Its stated capacity is 385 m of 0.35 mm line. Choose it when that larger line reserve at the stated diameter matters more than lower weight or faster pickup. The capacities are quoted for different line diameters, so they are not a same-diameter comparison. Maximum drag and the principal drive, line-handling and corrosion-protection features are shared.
Both models are described as suitable for monofilament or braided line. The supplier specifically presents the 6000 for surfcasting with long rods and heavy leads, and suggests braided main line with a monofilament shock leader for distance fishing. Match the reel to your rod, line and fishing method, and secure it firmly in the reel seat. Check the drag, handle, spool and line guidance before each trip, and do not use a damaged reel. Clean it regularly, particularly after saltwater use, with a soft cloth and suitable reel oil where needed. Follow the manufacturer's maintenance instructions, store it dry and remove the line for prolonged storage. Keep fingers, hair and clothing away from moving parts, avoid excessive line tension and supervise children using the reel.
