LS-6K is the lighter option at 530 g, with 104 cm retrieve and 12 kg maximum drag. LS-8K weighs 588 g, retrieves 123 cm and has 16 kg maximum drag. It also holds 440 m of 0.33 mm line rather than 300 m, so choose it for greater line reserve and faster line recovery, accepting 58 g of extra weight.
Both models are described for carp fishing at lakes and rivers. Their auto-switch freespool system allows line to be taken on a stationary bait setup. LS-6K is also described for static predator fishing and catfish fishing with natural bait, while LS-8K is specifically described for long-distance carp casting.
No. Both have a 5.3:1 gear ratio, but LS-6K retrieves 104 cm per turn and LS-8K retrieves 123 cm. LS-8K therefore recovers 19 cm more line per turn, so compare the stated retrieve as well as the ratio when choosing for line recovery.
Inspect the drag, handle, spool and line guide before use, clean regularly with a soft cloth and use suitable reel oil where needed. The graphite body is corrosion-resistant, but the supplied guidance still requires particular attention after saltwater use. Store dry and remove the line for prolonged storage, following the manufacturer's maintenance instructions.

The Okuma LS-6K and LS-8K are freespool reels for carp fishing at lakes and rivers. Their auto-switch freespool system allows a fish to take line while the bait is fished on a stationary setup. Both share the same line-lay and braking features, but differ in capacity, retrieve, maximum drag and weight. The LS-6K is also described for static predator fishing and catfish fishing with natural bait, as well as tench and bream.
A machine-cut aluminium spool, Worm Shaft oscillation system and slow oscillation work together for improved line lay. Both models have a 30 mm long-stroke spool travel and two round metal line clips. The clips retain the line when the reel is not in use, including during transport. The LS-8K is specifically described for long-distance carp casting and use with monofilament or braided line. Supplier guidance for LS-6K suggests monofilament from 0.28 to 0.40 mm.
Both reels have a 5.3:1 gear ratio, five ball bearings and one roller bearing. The RESII computer-balanced rotor supports an even retrieve. The precision zinc handle arm has a wooden knob for holding and turning the handle during the fight.
Quick Set infinite anti-reverse prevents backward rotation. Fast progressive drag provides drag adjustment during the fight, with maximum drag of 12 kg on LS-6K and 16 kg on LS-8K. Both also have a rotor brake system.
The corrosion-resistant graphite body houses a machined brass pinion gear. The solid aluminium bail wire is described as heavy-duty, while both models also have a metal air bail nut.

Choose LS-6K if lower reel weight matters for your static carp or natural-bait setup. Choose LS-8K when you need more line capacity, more line recovered per turn or a higher maximum drag for your carp setup. At the same 0.33 mm diameter, LS-8K holds 440 m rather than 300 m. Its trade-off is 58 g of extra weight. Use the model-specific spool code when identifying the corresponding spool.
Check that the reel suits your rod, line and fishing method, and secure it firmly in the reel seat. Before each outing, inspect the drag, handle, spool and line guide, and do not use a damaged reel. Keep fingers, hair and clothing clear of moving parts.
LS-6K is also described for occasional coastal or brackish-water use. Clean either reel regularly, especially after saltwater exposure, with a soft cloth and appropriate reel oil where required. Follow the manufacturer's maintenance instructions and store the reel dry. For prolonged storage, the supplied care guidance advises removing the line from the spool. Keep reels and small parts away from unsupervised children and pets.
