The micro-adjustable baitfeeding drag allows line to leave the spool against a separately set resistance. Turning the handle automatically trips the patented clutch back to the main drag, so you can start playing the fish without changing the main-drag setting.
The 640 is lightest at 450 g and holds 180 m of 0.30 mm line. The 650 holds 180 m at 0.35 mm and weighs 490 g, while the 496 g 660 holds 240 m at 0.40 mm. The 665 holds 190 m at 0.45 mm and weighs 750 g. For 0.50 mm line, choose between 270 m in the 800 g 680 and 370 m in the 850 g 690. More capacity comes with more reel weight, so compare the stated diameter and length with your setup.
Not by itself. The 640 and 650 have a 5.1:1 ratio with 71 cm and 76 cm per turn respectively, while the 4.5:1 models 665 and 680 retrieve 86 cm and 97 cm. Compare retrieve per turn when that matters to your fishing. No retrieve figure is supplied for the 660 or 690.
All six models are described for static carp fishing. The 640 also covers feeder fishing for carp, tench and bream, while the 650, 660, 665 and 680 are described for static catfish fishing. Boilies, pellets, particles and natural baits appear in the supplier use cases. Choose the model's line capacity and weight to match the rod and presentation rather than assuming every model suits every setup.
Check the mounting, drag, handle, spool and line guide before each use. The supplier calls for regular cleaning with a soft cloth, especially after saltwater exposure, and maintenance according to the manufacturer. The corrosion-resistant graphite body does not replace care, so dry the reel before storage and do not use it if damaged.

The Okuma LONGBOW BAITFEEDER family consists of fixed-spool baitfeeder reels for static carp fishing with the rod on a rest. The micro-adjustable baitfeeding drag lets a fish take line against a separately set resistance. The patented lever clutch and automatic trip system switch back to the main drag when you turn the handle, so you can move from waiting for a bite to playing the fish without resetting the main drag.
Supplier-supported uses include carp fishing with boilies, pellets or particles. The 640 also covers feeder fishing for carp, tench and bream. The 650, 660, 665 and 680 are also described for static catfish fishing, with natural-bait use explicitly stated for the 650, 665 and 680. Tench use is also named for the 660, 665 and 680, and bream use for the 665 and 680. The 680 and 690 are described for long-cast carp work on larger waters. The 650 covers lakes, ponds and quiet to moderately flowing rivers, the 660 lakes and ponds, and the 690 lakes and flowing rivers. For the 665, the supplier also names bait presentation at current edges. These are rod-rest fishing situations, including night sessions, where independently adjustable line release is useful. Choose the reel to suit your rod, line and fishing situation rather than using maximum drag as a fish-weight rating.
The One-Touch handle has a wooden knob for a comfortable grip during retrieval. The 5+1 bearing system includes a one-way roller bearing, and the reel has a multi-stop anti-reverse system. RESII (Rotor Equalizing System) uses a computer-balanced rotor for balanced rotation while winding.
A corrosion-resistant graphite body, graphite sideplates and graphite rotor house the oversized gearing and Precision Elliptical Gearing system. These support the reel's mechanical drive during retrieval and fish playing. The multi-disc main drag uses oiled felt discs to control line release under tension. The machined, anodized aluminium spool carries the line, with a metal line clip for securing it and an LCS line-control spool design.
The following capacities pair line diameter in mm with length in m. They are not interchangeable line-strength ratings.
| Model | Weight | Gear ratio | Line capacity | Maximum drag | Retrieve per turn | | :--- | :--- | :--- | :--- | :--- | :--- | | 640 | 450 g | 5.1:1 | 0.30 mm / 180 m | 9 kg | 71 cm | | 650 | 490 g | 5.1:1 | 0.35 mm / 180 m | 11 kg | 76 cm | | 660 | 496 g | 5.1:1 | 0.40 mm / 240 m | 11 kg | Not stated | | 665 | 750 g | 4.5:1 | 0.45 mm / 190 m | 14 kg | 86 cm | | 680 | 800 g | 4.5:1 | 0.50 mm / 270 m | 15 kg | 97 cm | | 690 | 850 g | 4.5:1 | 0.50 mm / 370 m | 15 kg | Not stated |
The 640 is the lightest option for carp and coarse-fish setups. The 650 holds the same stated length of thicker line and has a higher maximum drag. The 660 adds capacity at a weight just 6 g above the 650, with the same ratio and maximum drag. The 665 moves to thicker line and a lower gear ratio, with a substantial increase in weight. For the greatest line reserve, compare the 680 and 690: both have 15 kg maximum drag, but the 690 holds 100 m more at 0.50 mm and weighs 50 g more. A lower gear ratio does not by itself mean less line retrieved per handle turn, as the stated figures for the 665 and 680 show.
Secure the reel firmly to the rod and check the drag, handle, spool and line guide before fishing. Clean it regularly with a soft cloth, particularly after saltwater exposure, and use suitable reel oil as directed by the manufacturer. Corrosion-resistant construction is not a maintenance-free claim. Store the reel dry, keep fingers, hair and clothing away from moving parts, and supervise children during use.
