The DTS model features a high-speed drag system optimized for fast retrieves and rapid lure work. The DT series offers standard multi-disc drag in three gear ratios: 6.2:1 for slower presentations, 7.3:1 (H) for medium-fast work, and 8.1:1 (X) for high-speed casting.
Choose 6.2:1 for heavier lures, topwater, or slow crankbaits where power and control matter more than speed. Select 7.3:1 for mixed applications with medium-sized lures. Pick 8.1:1 when you need fast retrieves for finesse lures, reaction baits, or covering water quickly.
LITECAST magnesium is corrosion-resistant when properly coated and maintained. These reels include corrosion-resistant sideplates and are safe for freshwater and saltwater use. Regular rinsing after saltwater exposure and light lubrication will extend the reel's life significantly.
Currently, the Okuma Hakai Baitcasting line includes left-hand retrieve models only. Right-hand options may be available through regional distributors—contact your local dealer for availability.
All Hakai models carry 6–7 ball bearings plus one roller bearing, which is more than adequate for modern baitcasting. This configuration provides smooth, responsive retrieve while maintaining reliability. More bearings alone do not guarantee better performance—quality bearings and proper maintenance matter most.
Yes. The corrosion-resistant magnesium frame and stainless steel components are designed for saltwater use. Always rinse thoroughly with fresh water after each saltwater session, dry completely, and apply light reel oil to moving parts. This routine maintenance will preserve your reel for years.

The Okuma Hakai line delivers lightweight, high-performance low-profile baitcasting reels built for anglers who demand precision and durability. Each model features a LITECAST magnesium alloy frame and compact 167–170g design that fits naturally in your hand, reducing fatigue over long days on the water.
The LITECAST magnesium body pairs with corrosion-resistant sideplates for reliability in freshwater and saltwater conditions. A 42mm oversized brass main gear, hardened and machine-cut, transfers power smoothly under load. The lightweight, patented Flite Spool design maximizes casting distance while the hollow stainless steel main shaft reduces weight without sacrificing strength.
Most models feature a multi-disc hybrid drag system combining stainless steel and carbon washers for smooth, progressive drag curve. The external adjustable magnetic cast control system lets you dial in your throw weight, while the precision C-40x carbon injection star drag gives fine control over line tension. Quick-Set anti-reverse roller bearing ensures solid hook sets.
Each Hakai includes 6–7 stainless steel ball bearings plus one roller bearing, delivering the smooth retrieve you expect from a modern reel. A built-in universal line diameter indicator helps you spool correctly without guessing.
Choose based on your casting style and target fish. The DTS model offers a high-speed drag system at 8.1:1 ratio (84 cm/turn), ideal for rapid retrieves. The DT series ranges from 6.2:1 for slower, more controlled work on larger lures, to 7.3:1 and 8.1:1 for faster presentations.
