The DAXP-6000 and DAXP-7000 are explicitly described for fixed-lead and running carp rigs, and the DAXP-4000 for boilie fishing. The two larger sizes offer 12 kg maximum drag. Compare capacity for your chosen line diameter before selecting a size, as the 7000 holds more line but weighs 27 g more than the 6000.
Freespool allows a fish to take line while you wait for a bite. All sizes have auto-switch freespool. On the 6000 and 7000, the rear lever activates it and disengaging freespool brings the front drag into use, so line release during the bite and resistance during the fight are separate functions.
The 3000 weighs 280 g, compared with 331 g for the 4000. Both have a 5.0:1 ratio, but retrieve is 71 versus 79 cm per turn and maximum drag is 8 versus 10 kg. Choose between lower weight and the 4000's increased capacity, retrieve and included spare spool.
A graphite spare spool is included from size 4000, covering the 4000, 6000 and 7000 in this family. Their main spool is aluminium. The spare lets you prepare another line setup, but no spare spool is listed for the 3000.
No. The body is corrosion-resistant, but the supplied care instructions still require regular cleaning, especially after saltwater exposure, and maintenance according to the manufacturer. Check the moving parts and drag before fishing, and store the reel dry. Corrosion resistance alone is not a sea-fishing suitability claim.

The Okuma Dyna Drag XP is a freespool reel family with an auto-switch system that lets a fish take line before you engage the fighting drag. This is useful for stationary bait fishing. The DAXP-4000 is described for freshwater sessions targeting carp, pike, zander, eel and trout, including boilie fishing and bottom-fished baitfish for pike. The DAXP-6000 and DAXP-7000 are explicitly suited to bottom fishing for carp with fixed-lead or running rigs. On these two sizes, a rear lever activates freespool, and disengaging it brings the front drag into use.
All four sizes have three ball bearings and one roller bearing, Quick Set infinite anti-reverse to prevent backward rotation, and a machined brass pinion gear. S-curve oscillation distributes line across the spool, while the Even Flow line roller guides it during retrieval. The RESII computer-balanced rotor system supports balanced rotation when winding. The DAXP-6000 and DAXP-7000 also list a CFR (Cyclonic Flow Rotor). A round metal line clip provides a place to secure the line.
The corrosion-resistant body, sideplates and rotor are graphite, paired with a machine-cut aluminium spool. A rigid metal handle and T-shaped TPE knob provide the grip for retrieving line and playing fish. Sizes 4000, 6000 and 7000 include a graphite spare spool, allowing a second line setup to be prepared. A spare spool is not listed for size 3000.
The smaller sizes reduce reel weight, while the larger versions hold more line at comparable diameters. Compare line capacity at the diameter you plan to use, rather than by reel size alone. Capacities below are diameter in mm / length in m.
Model | Gear ratio | Retrieve per turn | Maximum drag | Weight | Line capacity |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
DAXP-3000 | 5.0:1 | 71 cm | 8 kg | 280 g | 0.20/310, 0.25/200, 0.30/135 |
DAXP-4000 | 5.0:1 | 79 cm | 10 kg | 331 g | 0.25/260, 0.30/180, 0.35/130 |
DAXP-6000 | 4.5:1 | 80 cm | 12 kg | 482 g | 0.25/420, 0.30/300, 0.35/220, 0.40/170 |
DAXP-7000 | 4.5:1 | 87 cm | 12 kg | 509 g | 0.30/350, 0.35/255, 0.40/195, 0.45/150, 0.50/125 |
Choose the 3000 for the lowest weight in the family, or the 4000 for increased capacity and drag with a 51 g weight increase. For the explicitly supported carp setups, the 6000 and 7000 share a 12 kg maximum drag and 4.5:1 ratio. The 7000 retrieves 7 cm more per turn and holds more line at shared diameters, but weighs 27 g more. Maximum drag is a reel specification, not a recommended line tension or fish-weight rating.
Match the reel to your rod, line and fishing method, and check that it is firmly attached. Inspect the drag, handle, spool and line guide before use, and do not use damaged equipment. Clean regularly with a soft cloth, especially after saltwater exposure, and service or lubricate according to the manufacturer's instructions. Corrosion resistance alone does not establish suitability for sea fishing. Store dry and remove the line for extended storage. Keep moving parts and loose components away from unsupervised children, and keep fingers, hair and clothing clear of the mechanism.
