The Korda Longshank Beaked Barbed builds on the proven Korda Longshank X pattern, originally based on classic fly-fishing hooks favored by carp anglers for their shape and properties. We reinforced them significantly and sharpened the points. Over 20 years later, underwater camera observations led to two crucial refinements. First, a beaked point was introduced, which testing confirmed offers superior hook retention and dramatically increases the ratio of hooked fish landed. Second, the eye was turned inward even further—from 20 degrees to 40 degrees—making the hook rotate extremely quickly in a carp's mouth for consistent, reliable grip.
