Let the lifter reach the bottom on a taut main line, then rest the rod with its tip pointing towards the rig. Slowly pay out line to let the buoyant bait rise to the desired height above the bottom, allowing depth changes without recasting.

The FTM Lifter Montage is a trout rig component set for deep gravel pits and trout lakes. Its lifter, oval buoyancy body and lead let you present strongly buoyant bait in midwater and adjust its height above the lake bed after casting.
Use bait with strong buoyancy, such as a ball of floating trout paste or waxworms with an added buoyancy aid. The bait needs to rise above the bottom for this presentation to work.
Thread the main line through the lifter's eye, then add the oval buoyancy body and a rubber stop. Tie a loop at the end of the main line and loop in a trout hooklength approximately 40–70 cm long. Slide the stop down to the knot before baiting the hook.
After casting, keep the main line taut while the lifter sinks to the bottom. Rest the rod with its tip pointing towards the rig. Slowly pay out line from the reel until the bait reaches the desired height above the bottom. This lets you set and vary the fishing depth without recasting.
Choose between 15g and 30g. The 15g version is the lighter option, while the 30g version has twice the stated weight. Both use the same setup and depth-adjustment method. The supplier does not specify different depth or casting-distance limits for these weights.
