It is a freshwater carp rod family for distance casting and playing fish. The carbon blank's quick recovery supports casting distance and accuracy while retaining a playing action, making it suited to carp sessions where reaching distant spots matters.
The 3.66 m rods pack to 187 cm, while the 3.96 m rods pack to 203 cm. The longer versions offer a longer casting lever but weigh 45 g more at 3.5lb and 55 g more at 4lb. Choose with your available casting space and transport capacity in mind.
No. The supplied ratings are test curves, not casting weights. The 3.66 m rods come in 3.25lb, 3.5lb and 4lb, and the 3.96 m rods in 3.5lb and 4lb. Higher test curves indicate more resistance to bending, but the supplier gives no casting-weight range for choosing a lead weight.
Yes. Every version has matt black American Tackle Delta-Lite guides from 50 to 16 mm, double-legged 50 mm butt and 30 mm second guides, and an 18 mm DPS American Tackle reel seat. You can select length and test curve without changing these fittings.
Every rod separates into two sections with carbon-reinforced push-over joints. Transport length is 187 or 203 cm, so check that your rod luggage accommodates it. The full Japanese shrink wrap handle and EVA foregrip above the reel seat provide comfortable contact points for casting and playing fish.

The Fox Horizon X5 Black is a two-section carp rod for freshwater sessions on lakes and rivers where casting distance and accuracy matter. Its carbon blank combines quick recovery after the cast with a fish-playing action. This updated version of the Horizon X5-S uses a stronger, lighter, thinner and more powerful blank.
Several multidirectional layers of thin carbon cloth with nanofibre technology are electro-bonded during curing. Ultra high modulus carbon, Multidirectional Nanofibre and Interlaminar resin form the blank, finished with a 1k carbon wrap. Quick recovery helps the rod settle after release, supporting accurate distance casts without sacrificing its playing action. Extra carbon reinforcement at every push-over joint strengthens the connections between the two sections.
Matt black American Tackle Delta-Lite guides run from a 50 mm butt guide to a 16 mm tip guide. The 50 mm butt guide and 30 mm second guide are double-legged for strength. The guide arrangement is designed to reduce line wrapping around the guides during casting. An 18 mm DPS American Tackle reel seat holds the reel, also in matt black.
Full Japanese shrink wrap covers the handle, with an EVA comfort foregrip above the reel seat for comfortable handling when casting and playing fish. Black collars and end caps complete the understated finish.
The five versions differ in length, test curve and weight. All have two sections and the same guides, reel seat and handle construction. The lengths below are rounded metric conversions of the supplier's 12ft and 13ft designations.
Length | Test curve | Rod weight | Transport length |
|---|---|---|---|
3.66 m | 3.25lb | 370 g | 187 cm |
3.66 m | 3.5lb | 400 g | 187 cm |
3.66 m | 4lb | 420 g | 187 cm |
3.96 m | 3.5lb | 445 g | 203 cm |
3.96 m | 4lb | 475 g | 203 cm |
Choose the 3.66 m 3.25lb version for the lowest test curve and weight in the range. At either length, 4lb offers a higher test curve than 3.5lb, with increased resistance to bending and more rod weight. Test curve is not a casting-weight rating, and no casting-weight range is supplied.
The 3.96 m versions provide a longer casting lever for distance work, but weigh 45 g more at 3.5lb and 55 g more at 4lb than their 3.66 m counterparts. They also need 16 cm more transport space. Choose between the lengths with both casting space and your rod luggage in mind.
