Berkley® Whiplash® 8 is a legendary line that is well known for being one of the strongest braids on the market! It’s a perfectly braided 8 carrier superline using 100% PE fiber. It doesn’t matter if you go for the biggest Fresh or Saltwater specimen, you’ll always have he extreme fighting power of Whiplash 8 to rely on.
Diameter (measured in mm) determines the line's physical thickness, affecting sensitivity and visibility. Breaking strain (measured in kg) indicates the weight the line can hold before breaking. Finer diameters offer better feel and longer casts, while higher breaking strains suit larger fish and heavy lures.
150m spools are ideal for reel backup, lighter rod setups, or frequent color/diameter changes. 300m spools provide longer sessions without changing spools, better value for main line, and are preferred for pike and catfish where long runs occur.
Yes. Whiplash 8 is designed for both freshwater and saltwater use. Its PE construction is inherently salt-resistant, offers superior abrasion resistance, and maintains strength in high-salinity environments. Rinse thoroughly after each saltwater session.
Yes. Crystal (clear) offers low visibility, ideal for clear water and cautious fish. Moss Green blends with vegetation and is excellent for weedy areas. Yellow provides visibility to the angler for bite detection and long-distance control. Choose based on water clarity and personal preference.
Whiplash 8 variants range from 10.7 kg (0.06 mm ultra-fine) to 47.1 kg (0.28 mm heavyweight). The 0.06–0.12 mm range suits lures 1–5g and small fish, 0.14–0.20 mm handles 5–20g lures and medium pike/perch, and 0.25–0.28 mm powers heavy 20+ g lures and large predators.
Not recommended. Mixing diameters on one reel can cause backing knots to slip, uneven spool load, and casting problems. Instead, use separate spools for each diameter or switch complete spools when changing lines.
