Treble hooks (three-point hooks) are primarily used mounted on artificial lures, spoons, and plugs, or as trailer hooks attached to soft baits. The three points increase hooking probability and are particularly effective for predatory fish like pike and perch. They work well in a variety of water conditions.
UV-active coatings glow under ultraviolet light in underwater conditions, increasing visibility to fish, especially in murky water or low-light periods. The bright orange colour combined with UV activation acts as an additional trigger, often resulting in more aggressive strikes and higher catch rates, particularly from pike and perch.
Choose hook size based on your lure size and target fish: #1 for smaller spinners and plugs (under 5 cm); #1/0 for medium lures (5–8 cm); #2/0 for larger lures (8–12 cm); #3/0 for big pike plugs and spoons (over 12 cm). Larger hooks suit bigger lures and larger fish, while smaller hooks work better with compact baits and smaller predators.
These hooks are primarily designed for freshwater predatory fishing (pike and perch). For saltwater use, we recommend models with stainless steel or special anti-rust coatings, as the standard carbon steel on these trebles may corrode in salt water. Check with Balzer's saltwater-specific hook ranges for marine applications.
Attach the treble hook's eye to the lure's connection ring with a split ring, snap, or direct knot. Use a split ring to reduce line twist and allow natural hook movement. When using as a trailer on soft baits, wrap the hook point with thread or attach via a small split ring to the bait's tail. Ensure the hook hangs naturally and doesn't impede lure action.
