The handle can be fitted on the right or left, so you can choose your retrieve side. Instant Anti-Reverse is permanently engaged and prevents backwinding. Line release during a fight is controlled through the Carbon Matrix™ front drag instead.
It is designed for freshwater finesse spinning with light, sensitive rods. The magnesium body, lightweight spool and low-inertia rotor reduce weight and start-up resistance. The HPCR™ bearings offer increased corrosion protection, but the stated water type is freshwater, not a saltwater-use specification.
Choose the 2500MS for the lower weight of 156 g and 84 cm retrieve per turn. The 3000MS weighs 162 g, retrieves 89 cm and holds 130 m rather than 100 m of 0.25 mm mono. Both have a 6.2:1 ratio, so the decision is between lower weight and extra capacity with more line pickup per turn.
Both line types are supported, but neither reel is pre-spooled. The 2500MS holds 125 m of 0.15 mm braid or 100 m of 0.25 mm mono. The 3000MS holds 130 m of 0.17 mm braid or 130 m of 0.25 mm mono. Choose your line and diameter using the appropriate capacity before spooling the reel.

The Abu Garcia ZENON MG-X is a compact, front-drag spinning reel for freshwater finesse fishing with light, sensitive rods. Its one-piece X-Mag™ magnesium alloy body, C6 V-Rotor and lightweight Air-Fin Spool keep weight down to 156 g in the 2500MS and 162 g in the 3000MS. A carbon handle further supports the lightweight construction.
The compact V-Rotor has very low start-up inertia, helping the retrieve begin with little resistance during stop-and-start lure work. The A-Symetric body design houses the AMG aluminium gearing system with precision-machined gears and a computer-optimised gear design for smooth, efficient operation and durability. Both sizes have a 6.2:1 gear ratio.
The bearing system uses 10 stainless steel HPCR™ bearings plus one roller bearing, with increased corrosion protection. The Carbon Matrix™ carbon-fibre front drag provides smooth, consistent pressure throughout its adjustment range, helping control line release during a fight. Instant Anti-Reverse is always on, preventing backward handle rotation.
The aluminium Air-Fin Spool works with Rocket Spool Lip Design™ and Rocket line management™ to control line leaving the spool and improve casting performance with different line types. Both monofilament and braid capacities are specified below. The handle can be positioned on the right or left, so either retrieve preference is accommodated. Neither reel comes pre-spooled, so add your chosen line before fishing. These reels are specified for freshwater, despite the bearings' corrosion protection.
The 2500MS is the lighter option at 156 g and retrieves 84 cm per handle turn. Its monofilament capacities are 180 m at 0.20 mm, 100 m at 0.25 mm and 80 m at 0.3 mm. Braid capacity is 125 m at 0.15 mm. Choose it when lower reel weight matters and these capacities cover your setup.
The 3000MS weighs 162 g and retrieves 89 cm per turn. Its monofilament capacities are 130 m at 0.25 mm, 120 m at 0.28 mm and 100 m at 0.30 mm. Braid capacity is 130 m at 0.17 mm. Compared at the same monofilament diameter, it holds 30 m more at 0.25 mm and 20 m more at 0.30 mm. It also picks up 5 cm more line per turn for a weight increase of 6 g. Choose it when that extra capacity or faster line pickup is more useful than the small weight saving. The braid capacities use different diameters and should not be compared as a like-for-like volume measurement.
