The Abu Garcia Spike S is a dependable spinning reel series built specifically for predator fishing, offering smooth operation, a waterproof drag system, and a robust integral body across five size options.
The Spike S features a tough DuraMetal™ integral body that provides rigidity and durability. This one-piece construction minimises flex under load and keeps internal components aligned for consistent performance, whether jigging for perch or cranking lures through current for zander.
All models are equipped with a Water Shield carbon matrix drag that delivers smooth, reliable stopping power. Max drag ranges from 3 kg on the compact 2000S up to 7.7 kg on the 4000SH, covering light finesse tactics through to heavier zander applications on big rivers and canals.
Every reel in the range comes with a shallow spool, ideal for spooling thin braided lines without excessive backing. This design ensures optimal line lay and casting performance with modern PE lines.
The silent oscillating COG design provides smooth, even line lay across the spool, reducing noise and vibration during retrieval. Combined with 6+1 stainless steel bearings, the result is a silky-smooth rotation.
The range covers five models: the 2000S (219 g, 5.2:1 ratio) for light perch spinning, the 2500S and 2500SH (both 240 g, in 5.2:1 and 6.2:1 ratios) as versatile mid-range options, the 3000SH (261 g, 6.2:1) for heavier perch and lighter zander work, and the 4000SH (266 g, 6.2:1, 7.7 kg drag) for zander on large waterways. All models feature an aluminium handle with a high-density EVA knob and instant anti-reverse.
