Both line types are supported, but the reel is not pre-spooled. Mono capacities are 125 m/0.29 mm, 105 m/0.32 mm and 70 m/0.38 mm. Braid capacities are 135 m/0.29 mm, 100 m/0.36 mm and 70 m/0.41 mm. All models share these capacities, and no spare spool is supplied, so load your chosen line before use.

The fifth-generation Abu Garcia REVO5 X family consists of low-profile baitcasting reels for freshwater lure fishing. The MagTrax™ magnetic brake provides consistent spool braking during the cast, while the Carbon Matrix™ drag controls line release when playing a fish. Choose between right-hand and left-hand retrieve, with three gear ratios across four models.
MagTrax™ handles casting brake pressure independently of the star-adjusted Carbon Matrix™ drag. Carbon-fibre drag material and a stated 20 lb drag capacity, approximately 9.1 kg, provide smooth resistance under load. Instant Anti-Reverse prevents backward handle rotation, keeping the retrieve engaged.
Every model weighs 204 g and has a C6 Carbon frame and sideplate with an asymmetrical body designed to optimise weight, balance and ergonomics. The bowed 90 mm aluminium handle has co-moulded knobs for grip during retrieval. Seven stainless-steel ball bearings plus one roller bearing support moving parts, and the Duragear Gen II gear system drives the retrieve. The reels also feature EXD concept design and an aluminium spool. All four share a silver/orange/black colour scheme.
The handle position tells you which hand turns the reel. Select the right-hand model if you want to wind with your right hand, or one of the three left-hand models to wind with your left. Gear ratio describes spool rotations per handle turn, while line pickup states how much line is actually recovered. Compare both rather than choosing by the HS designation alone.

The two 6.7:1 models recover the same 69 cm, so handle side is their deciding difference. The 5.4:1 WINCH model picks up less line per turn, making a slower retrieve easier at the same winding cadence. The 7.3:1 HS model has the highest gear ratio, but its stated 64 cm pickup is below the 69 cm of the 6.7:1 versions. It is not the highest-pickup option in this family. Weight, line capacity and construction remain the same across all four.
The LP (low-profile) reels accept monofilament or braid. Stated monofilament capacities are 125 m at 0.29 mm, 105 m at 0.32 mm and 70 m at 0.38 mm. Braid capacities are 135 m at 0.29 mm, 100 m at 0.36 mm and 70 m at 0.41 mm. Use the capacity for your selected line type and diameter when planning how much line to load.
